Feels a bit fraudulent posting a review of the chain on this site as like most of the other reviewers I have no idea how secure the chain actually is. Bit like insurance really, you hope never to actually find out.
Having said which it does seem very beefy, fits the padlock well and should be good.
Steve at Pragmasis is great to deal with and their service is excellent.
The only really useful bit of info I can give is BUY A CHAIN LONGER THAN YOU THINK YOU NEED. I bought a 2.5m length against my better judgement and it turned out to be frustratingly short for locking two bikes securely to the front axle of the van, or for locking four bikes (all wheels) to a fence etc.
I coughed up again and bought a 4m lock which is brilliantly easy to use, no need to jam the bikes together to get the chain round.

Living in a high crime rate area of Leeds I have bought two Protector 13mm Chains and a Squire Padlock to secure a number of high value road and mountain bikes which are stored in a basement. Comparing the Protector 13mm chain to other "sold secure" chains available for high street bike stores makes the other chains look a little on the flimsy side! Excellent service and communication throughout the transaction and delivery, I won't hesitate to return if I need any other security products. Many thanks!

I ordered 1,2 meter 13mm chain with a noose chain at the end for my bicycle. 1.2 meter is enough for most uses and the noose adds a lot of versatility. Very well made, I'm a happy customer.

This 13mm chain and lock combo is the works. I was musing about getting the 16mm but the 13mm is more than serious enough for any road bike. The 16mm is more likely to damage your bike (especially if carbon) than protect it so stick with the 13mm. The lock is pretty serious and there's a snug fit between chain and lock so no room for leverage attacks.

I also went for the noose option. To be honest, I couldn't quite work out the benefit until I read the helpful article on this site (under how to use the chain and lock). The noose ring (an oversized loop at one end) enables you to have two locked circuits of chain rather than just one. At one end, the chain loops around the anchor point and through the noose ring, then the other end uses the normal end of the chain to loop through any other part of the chain. You then attach the lock and voila!

Customer service from these guys was great, courier (parcel force) followed the specific delivery instructions to the letter. Super fast delivery. Would definitely use again!

I got a few 19 / 13 / 11 mm chains for shed security. Seriously weighty deterrents. I wouldn't bother if I were a tea leaf. Thanks!

Hi, can't say how much help Steve was prior to purchase. Went into great detail of what was best for me, was going to buy the 16mm chain however when I told Steve I was going to use it for a European tour he advised me on the 13 mm chain, I'm glad I listened to him. Perfect..

Parcel arrived in The Netherlands in two days.
The 13mm chain 1,2m length is light enough to be carried in a pannier.
Except for the 13mm chain I also got the 16mm and two keyed alike D-locks. Various ways to use the D-locks, I think they provide more flexibility than padlocks.
Note that 16mm is quite heavy - to be used only for home parking.
All products seem very high quality.

I have purchased 3 of these 13mm chains over the last few years and they have proven to be very durable, resistant to rust and corrosion (I keep them in situ outdoors year round). The size and weight of the chains act as a very effective deterrent to cycle thieves. Whilst many other bicycles have been stolen in both locations used, my Pragmasis chains have ensured that my bike is not an easy target. Great products at reasonable prices (not cheap - but a bike costs alot more to replace!)

I have no worries about the security of my high value bikes with this chain coupled with the Torc ground anchor and Squire lock. Brilliant!

I asked myself "Which chain should I buy so I can sleep at night?"After reading reviews for chains from different companies on various sites, I knew I had to buy the Pragmasis Protector. I bought the 13mm chain for my very, very expensive Time Trial triathlon bike. The chain is incredibly solid and a very well-manufactured. It is obvious Pragmasis take security very seriously. I firstly read most of the information pages on their website to ensure I was buying the right sized chain for my bike. The information and videos were incredibly helpful. I did several test runs using rope around my frame and wheels to ensure I would choose the right chain length. I highly recommend this to everyone. To all the team at Pragmasis, a HUGE thank you. Having just retired we decided to purchase 2 new Electric Bikes. These will be kept in an outbuilding on our property. We purchased a 13mm protector chain which is fastened with an anchor to a brick wall, the other end connected to a good quality Abus D lock. The chain is top quality with a sturdy sleeve. It would probably be too heavy to carry on a bike but as it is a permanent fixture weight doesn't matter. Although the chain is fairly expensive (as are the Abus D locks)in security you only get what you pay for. Cheap products are a false economy. Very satisfied customer.

Bought the 2m chain with a loop on the end.

It's a solid product and not as heavy as expected, so is fine to thread through a number of bike frames.

This is not a criticism by any means but as the links are pretty chunky, the lock I had wouldn't close around the standard links, so it was a good excuse to upgrade the padlock too :-)

I was pretty sure after reading all the reviews before purchasing this chain I wouldn't be disappointed and I wasn't.

This is the second time I've ordered a 13mm chain and SS50CS padlock. I've had the same set up protecting my mountain bikes for the last couple of years, with a lot of reassurance provided by them. A new bike meant some additional security was required.

The service from Pragmasis has been exceptional. I asked for a 'keyed alike' lock to save confusion. David kept me up to date throughout the ordering process, explaining timescales, etc. The chain and lock arrived quicker than expected but an early email notification meant I could ensure someone was home to accept the delivery.

Absolutely spot on service and a product that I feel I can trust to do its job. So much so that I recommend Pragmasis whenever anyone asks me about bike security.

I was after a chain and padlock to secure my motorcycle to an Oxford Rota Force ground anchor. Unfortunately the loop in that anchor won't accept a 16mm chain so I opted for the 13mm chain. The added advantage of this is that is fits through the hole in the rear axle,of my R1200GS. I feel this is a better option than threading through the frame as well. I bought a package with the Squire padlock as well - and a great padlock it is. I wish I had checked this company out beforehand then Inwoikd also have bought their Torc ground anchor - bugger! I purchased a 2m chain and would definitely recommend getting a slightly longer chain than you think you need to give more flexibility. The service from Pragmasis was fantastic - personal emails to advise of despatch and ordering. I didn't call them, but I am sure they would offer the right advice to ensure you choose the right solution for your needs.

Like the heading says the chain is a serious bit of kit. Whatever this chain is wrapped around is not getting stolen! Tough, well made, very visible. Excellent!

Bought this chain along with the recommended lock and a shed shackle after having our shed broken into twice last year and bikes taken both times. The shed was broken into again last night but bikes still there!!!! Does exactly as they say

I bought the 4m length of this chain after using string to work out how long it needed to be to go through 4 bikes in a bike circle - 4m is just right. The chain looks very heavy and well made - much stronger than expensive ones from Oxford and Abus I previously owned. I've now ordered a 2.5m one for another shed! Anyone thinking they the 16mm for bicycles needn't worry - this is definitely strong enough and thicker than the majority of motorbike locks, let alone bicycle ones. I also googled this and reviews are consistently great - would strongly recommend.
