Pragmasis is, very sadly, closing down so how will that affect the Sold Secure approval status of our products?

We have always documented the accurate Sold Secure certification for our products throughout our history and throughout the period during which we sold the products concerned.

Those historical approvals all continue to be valid for the products that were purchased at the time, indefinitely.

So, an approval for a product that we sold during 2023 or 2024, for instance, will continue to be valid indefinitely.

All of our approvals continue at the level they were granted at the time.

Since we are closing and as our stock on many products has been running down, it has only been viable for us to renew the approvals for products that we are continuing to manufacture beyond the previous approved period. That approval period ran from 01-Jul-23 to 30-Jun-24.

We have renewed the following products to cover fresh manufacturing that is happening now, beyond 30-Jun-24:

• Torc Series III Mega Ground Anchor
• RoundLock RL21 and RL21A Socket
• Protector 13mm Chain
• Protector 16mm Chain
• Protector 19mm Chain
• Shed Shackle

All products that we have not renewed were manufactured during the previous approved period(s) and any remaining stock items are sold now with a designation such as Sold Secure (2023) Powered Cycle Gold. For example, we only have the last few Protector 11mm chains left and their stock value was below the audit fee so it made no commercial sense to renew them. We considered scrapping them, but we never approve of waste of perfectly good products so we are selling them with that "(2023)" qualification on the approval so customers know that the 2023 approval certificate is still valid, and will continue to be, indefinitely.

We could have rested on the '23-'24 approval certificates and not renewed anything. Indeed, we could have adopted that approach years ago and only certified each product once, but we have always felt that was not the right way to behave. It would certainly have saved us many £thousands over the years if we had adopted that approach in the past. E.g. last year's audit was offered to us in excess of £11,000+VAT. However, we felt that the ethos of Sold Secure-approved products, and of independent approvals of any kind, is that active manufacture is audited every year to give an independent, unbiased and ongoing external validation that our quality has not dropped. Even though we have announced that we are closing later this year and there is probably only a few months of normal trading remaining for us, we thought we should pay for the audit to be done on every one of the products we are continuing to manufacture during the closedown period.

We do not plan on any further manufacture of products that we have not renewed: Once they're gone, they're gone, I'm afraid.

All of the above 6 products that we put through audit passed with flying colours.
...But it was still a very stressful day, as the consequences of a test failure could have been really awkward.
