Protector 13mm hardened boron steel chain (select length below), plus the super-compact RL21 RoundLock. The RoundLock is Sold Secure Motorcycle Gold/Quad & ATV Gold/Bicycle Gold/Motor Scooter Gold approved and the chain is Sold Secure Motorcycle Gold/Bicycle approved. The chain is 2.9kg/metre; the RoundLock padlock is another 0.6kg. The chain is supplied with usually bronze colour sleeving, and the chain itself is finished with either zinc plating or a black finish.
This can make an excellent compromise for portable security for motorcycles, particularly with the noose option on the chain.
Restricted Availability: This package is not always available as it relies upon precise clearance between the chain and lock and normal manufacturing tolerance on the chain means some batches will not fit! We check each batch and only offer this package when our stock works in this combination. When this package is ordered, we check the specific chain against the lock in terms of the end links, only (ignoring a noose end). It is possible that an intermediate link will not fit the lock but that should not normally matter as you would loop one end link, and/or the other end link, through another link of the chain to fit the lock. I.e. the end links are the ones that matter and we check they both fit the lock. When this package is showing as in stock then that means we have a batch of chain that fits, so feel free to grab it while you can!

Keyed-alike available at initial order only (not available retrospectively) when ordering more than one lock together, and only amongst other RL21(A) locks and/or DIB-Series D-Locks. These locks can't be keyed-alike with any of the Squire locks. Please note that the Keyed Alike option must be selected for *all* locks in the set that you wish to be Keyed Alike.
The RoundLock also fits our 16mm chain but is not suitable for our 19mm chain unless the optional extra RL21A socket is also purchased and that is used in place of the standard RL21 socket. The RL21A socket is available separately - Please Click for the RL21A Socket product listing.
The RoundLock can also be used as a motorcycle disc lock - Check that you have a suitable opening that will take the 21mm diameter shackle in your brake disc or disc carrier. You can then use this with a chain when at home and as a disc lock when out and about. Note that disc locks do not prevent a bike from being lifted into the back of a van, which is a common technique employed by thieves. Adding a chain and physically chaining the bike to something solid can make the difference!
Noose chain option has a special oversize ring at one end of the chain (only), allowing a noose to be formed by looping the chain through that ring. This is helpful with longer lengths of chain, avoiding the normal need to make a big loop around all items - A noose can be formed at the ground anchor and a second loop formed with the lock at the other end of the chain.

The Protector 13mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 106 x 48mm outside; 80 x 22mm inside. It is constructed from 13mm diameter bar and has a fabric sleeve that is usually bronze in colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above). If you've got a round hole 52mm diameter, the 13mm chain should slide through OK. It will also fit through a rectangular hole, e.g. 52mm x 35mm, but that requires the links to settle against each other, and more closely as the slot gets narrower, down to the absolute minimum of around 52mm x 30mm high (where it would be quite fiddley to get it to go through).
