The 13mm chain is available in standard and noose versions. The noose chain has an oversized circular link on one end of the chain. This allows you to wrap the chain around a fixed object and then thread the standard link through the oversized ring, creating a 'noose'. You can carry a shorter, thicker length of noose chain, for the same weight.
Frequently Asked Questions
Product specific questions
Protector 13mm
What is the difference between the noose version and the standard 13mm chain?
Is the 13mm chain suitable for motorcycles or just bicycles?
The Protector 13mm has been tested to Sold Secure Gold standard. It's an excellent choice for those who want a blend of security and portability. At 2.9kg per metre, it's still a chunky bit of kit but light enough to be carried on your bike. The noose-end option is popular with those who want maximum reach for minimal length. Of course, a thicker gauge chain will offer more protection and we'd thicker than 13mm if you're securing a vehicle outside overnight.
What padlocks work best with this chain?
On each product's page we recommend the other security products that work in combination. Our recommendations are not just the products that fit but we also take into account the level of security each product offers and try to match up the right security level and price. Please scroll on this product page to see our recommended picks for the 13mm chains.
Is this chain suitable for ground anchors?
Absolutely. Our 13mm chain is the minium we'd recommend for static security. Its size means it will fit almost every ground anchor on the market. Our ground anchor range is designed to offer maximum security but we appreciate this means they're not the cheapest on the market. You can pair our 13mm chains with all of our ground anchor range, however you can also fit a cheaper ground anchor if you're on a tight budget.
Is it portable enough to carry on a bike?
Our 13mm security chain weighs 2.9kg per metre. That's about twice the weight of a decent-quality D-lock. We also sell a chain carry case that makes it easy to cary your security on your bicycle or motorcycle.
Can this chain be bolt-cropped?
In short, no when Bennetts tested our 13mm chain with a set of Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers (the best croppers in the industry) they could only put light surface damage on the chain.

Great products
Thanks for some great products. Your kit protected my bikes perfectly during a burglary a few years ago and it’s still going (extremely) strong.

Still going strong
I bought from you once and only needed to buy once in 2016, but suffice to say that the 19mm bespoke length chain, and ground anchor installed according to Pragmasis instructions are still going strong, keeping my bike safe just off the street in Brixton, London.

Mr B
Wholly impressed
I would like to say I am wholly impressed with the ground anchors, chains and padlocks that I have purchased over the past few years and will always recommend you when the opportunity arises.
