Off on a tour with your pal and needing a bit of extra security? The Buddy chain allows you to link two D-locks together, meaning each bike acts as a ground anchor for the other. When parking overnight, get added peace of mind by linking your bikes together.

An angle-grinder-resistant D-lock can be extremely difficult to cut. But if your bike isn’t attached to anything, thieves don’t necessarily have to cut the lock—they can simply lift the bike into a van and deal with it later.

The Buddy Chain helps close that gap.

Pass each rider’s D-lock through one end of the chain and two individually protected bikes become one much heavier, more awkward object. They’re harder to separate, harder to manoeuvre and considerably harder to carry away.

Unlike a conventional security chain, the Buddy Chain is deliberately short and compact. It gives two riders the additional security of being locked together without either person having to carry a full-length chain and padlock.

Which Buddy Chain fits your D-lock?

The Buddy Chain is compatible with a wide range of D-locks, including popular angle-grinder-resistant models from Litelok, Hiplok, Oxford and ABUS, as well as our own Pragmasis DIB and the Squire Matterhorn Mini.

However, not all D-locks have the same shackle dimensions. Some feature particularly thick shackles or protective coverings, so it's important to choose the correct chain thickness.

13mm Buddy Chain

Our lighter, more compact option, compatible with:

Which length should I choose?

Both the 40cm and 60cm versions use the same chain links, so lock compatibility is identical.

The 40cm Buddy Chain is the most compact choice when parking two bikes close together. The 60cm version provides additional reach and flexibility when connecting bikes with different frame designs or locking positions.
