A multiple award winner over many years, the high-quality material and our heat treatment process mean it beats other chains in magazine tests.

This 16mm thickness is one of our best-selling products, due to its price-to-performance ratio. It's a heavy beast - at 4.5kg per metre - so best used for location-based security (home or garage). Unless you've had your Weetabix, it is not very portable.

It offers excellent resistance to common attack methods and has been independently approved by the experts at Sold Secure to Motorcycle (Powered Cycle) Gold standard. It also meets the Secured By Design police preferred specification.

The chain is supplied with usually bronze colour sleeving, and the chain itself is finished with a black finish.

The Protector 16mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 132 x 62-64mm outside; 100 x 30-32mm inside, throughout its length (an elongated end link is not required). It is constructed from 16mm diameter bar. The smallest rectangular hole it will fit through is about 65 x 34mm, but that would also be a tight fit. It is again fitted with a protective fabric sleeve, usually a bronze colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above).

Motorcycle security

We think the Protector 16mm is too heavy to use as portable security. However if you ride a scooter and have helmet storage space under the seat, the Protector 16mm is an excellent carry. Couple it with a RoundLock and you can lock your scooter to a fixed object when out and about - minimising the chances of your scooter being lifted into the back of a van.

Home security

The Protector 16mm is used by our customers for a wide variety of domestic and commercial security applications. Even the Ministry of Defence have bought our 16mm chains!
