This closed-shackle padlock offers almost impenetrable resistance against common attack methods, including grinding, cropping, freezing, and drilling.
This is a popular lock to go with our Protector 16mm chain, and for good reason. It offers practically unbeatable bang for your buck. Whether you're securing a motorcycle, site equipment, or your perimeter, the SS65CS makes it virtually impossible to get any tools onto the shackle, let alone defeat it.
The lock is key-retaining, meaning the key can't be removed until the lock is returned to its closed state. The SS65CS is a superb choice for outdoor use, withstanding over 200 hours of continuous salt-spray testing.

Cylinder options
As standard the SS65CS comes with the R1 restricted key profile (which has a 6-pin tumbler and over 250,000 combinations) but you can upgrade the cylinder to the NW4 (New Wave) cylinder.
The NW4 is Squire’s upgraded high-security dimple key cylinder system, designed to provide significantly greater protection against picking, decoding and unauthorised key copying than the standard cylinder. It uses a more advanced multi-pin reversible key platform with enhanced key control and a far higher number of key combinations, making it much more resistant to manipulation and duplication. You would typically choose the NW4 version over the standard lock where higher security, stricter key management or protection of high-value assets is important, while still retaining the same heavy-duty lock body and physical attack resistance as the standard SS65CS.
Chain options
We recommend this padlock with the Protector 16mm chain. It will not fit the Protector 19mm but the SS80CS will.
