The Protector 22 mm Noose-End Chain is one of the toughest motorcycle security chains available in the UK. Made from high-grade, through-hardened steel, this heavy-duty noose chain is impossible to bolt-crop by hand. There's no such thing as an angle-grinder-proof chain, but this is close.

What Is a Noose-End Chain — and Why Use One?

A noose-end chain has an oversized ring welded at one end. This allows you to:

Wrap the chain around a fixed object or ground anchor
Thread the other end of the chain through the ring
Create a tightening noose that cannot be pulled back through
Carry a shorter chain compared to a non-noose option

This grinder-resistant chain is made for situations where you want the highest practical level of security. It weighs over 11kg per metre, which is almost double the weight of our 19mm chain. It is best used for stationary or long-term parking — home garages, overnight street parking.

The noose design:

Reduces the amount of chain needed to reach your anchor
Keeps one end of the chain captive so your padlock only has to secure a single link
For many locking scenarios, a noose end provides faster, more secure, and more versatile use than a standard chain.

The chain is supplied with bronze colour sleeving, and the chain itself is finished with a black finish.

The Protector 16mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 132 x 62-64mm outside; 100 x 30-32mm inside, throughout its length (an elongated end link is not required). It is constructed from 16mm diameter bar. The smallest rectangular hole it will fit through is about 65 x 34mm, but that would also be a tight fit. It is again fitted with a protective fabric sleeve, usually a bronze colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above).

Motorcycle security

The Protector 16mm weighs 4.5kg per metre. This may be too heavy to use as portable security. However, if you ride a scooter and have helmet storage space under the seat, the Protector 16mm is an excellent carry. Couple it with a RoundLock and you can lock your bike to a fixed object when out and about - minimising the chances of your bike being lifted into the back of a van.
