Understanding Pin Lengths

Note: Pin lengths can be expressed in different ways to give full clarity - Be sure that you are checking the right dimension! The Usable Length is not the same as the Nominal Length and this varies again with Super Dooper Pins!

The Usable Length generally equates to the thickness of chain links you intend to use plus the width of your bike at the point and route where you intend to use the Pin. E.g. when using a 19mm chain and fitting a Pin through a rear axle, the chain links (2 x 19 = 38mm) plus the width of that axle would give you the minimum Usable Length - We'd always recommend adding a bit to allow for tolerances. The following tables show example Usable Lengths of Pins we manufacture and the resultant maximum bike/axle width that can be used with various chain options.

Standard Anti-Pinch Pin Dimensions

For the standard Anti-Pinch Pin, the Usable Length is given by Nominal Length - 44mm,

Super Dooper Anti-Pinch Pin Dimensions

For the Super Dooper Pin for the Squire SS80CS, the Usable Length is given by Nominal Length - 55mm.
For the Super Dooper Pin for the Abloy PL362, the Usable Length is given by Nominal Length - 47mm.
