What chains fit the Hiplok D1000 and DX1000 anti-angle-grinder D-locks

Hiplok D1000

The D1000 with a (very short!) 16mm Protector chain

The Hiplok D1000 is Hiplok's first anti-angle-grinder D-lock. It has a chunky coating which means it won't fit all tat many security chains. It has a 92mm x 155mm internal locking area.

Not all chains fit this lock, due to its thick coating around the shackle which measures 32mm x 24mm. However, here at Pragmasis, we have a few chains that fit the Hiplok D1000.

The D1000 will work with our:

Protector 16mm,

Protector 19mm

and Protector 22mm chain

Sliding the shackle onto our chains is a snug fit but the shackle does fit! Some owners have trimmed a bit of the Hiplock's sheath away to make it easier to locate the shackle on the chain but you really don't need to.

Interestingly, the Hiplok has an angular design because it uses ferosafe inserts, which is what gives it is angle-grinder resistance. However ferosafe is also hard to shape and so it's supplied in straight lengths. Hence the Hiplock's 50p piece shape!

Hiplok DX1000

The Hiplok DX1000 is the larger sibling to the D1000. It has a 112mm x 205mm internal locking area and the coating around the DX is actually a couple of millimetres thicker than that on the D1000. The DX sleeve measures 26mm x 33mm.

The DX1000 fits the:

Protector 16mm,

Protector 19mm

and Protector 22mm chain

You don't need to trim the rubber sheath coating to fit any of these chains. The thickest part of the sheath is at the opening but once you're onto the shackle the chain slides on fairly easily.
