What if a lock or chain will not fit my motorcycle?
A strong lock or chain is only useful if it can be positioned and closed correctly on your bike. Check the actual opening and the complete locking arrangement before ordering.
The chain will not pass through the frame
Look for a suitable structural part of the bike with enough clearance for the complete chain link, including its sleeve. Chain gauge describes the thickness of the steel, not the outside width of the link.
If no suitable opening will take the chain, an Anti-Pinch Pin may provide another arrangement on a compatible motorcycle. Check the proposed position and the chain, lock and pin combination with us before buying. Do not assume every bike can use the same pin length or mounting route.
The lock will not fit through the brake disc
Check both the disc opening and the clearance around it. A pin or shackle passing through a hole does not prove that the lock body will fit or that the lock can close fully.
Our Roundlock disc-fit guide explains how to check its 21mm pin against the opening. You must also check surrounding space, including the wheel and brake components.
Spokes or brake components are in the way
Do not force a lock between components or choose a position where it presses against a spoke, brake line or other vulnerable part. A different locking point or product may be needed.
Where practical, secure the frame or another suitable structural part rather than relying only on a wheel. A wheel can be removed from the bike, so a wheel-only arrangement has limitations even when the lock fits.
What information should I send you?
Send the motorcycle make, model and year; the exact chain and lock models; measurements of the available opening; and clear photographs showing the area and surrounding parts. Include a wider photograph so we can understand the proposed chain route. We will do our best to help.
